The Human–Nature Relationship and Its Impact on Health: A Critical Review

Within the past four decades, research has been increasingly drawn toward understanding whether there is a link between the changing human–nature relationship and its impact on people’s health. This human–nature relationship and its impact on human’s health is explored in this paper through a developing conceptual model.


Vitalizing effects of being outdoors and in nature

In this study, five studies utilize different survey, experimental, and diary methods to assess the effects of being outdoors on subjective vitality. Being outdoors was associated with greater vitality, a relation that was mediated by the presence of natural elements.


The benefits of nature experience: Improved affect and cognition

This study investigated the impact of nature experience on affect and cognition. These findings further our understanding of the influence of relatively brief nature experiences on affect and cognition, and help to lay the foundation for future research on the mechanisms underlying these effects.
